Vinegar is basically free. Why pay for this?
Vinegar is cheaper and it works on what you can reach. It can't circulate through a sealed pump — and the smell is a common reason cats stop using a fountain.
How can it clean inside the pump if I don't open the pump?
Your pump moves water through itself continuously. The tablet dissolves into that water, so the cleaning solution goes everywhere the water goes.
Will it leave residue like the last tablet I tried?
No. It dissolves completely, and you empty and rinse before refilling. The grainy-residue complaints in this category come from dental tablets, which contain binders this doesn't.
What if my cat drinks while it's dissolving?
Unplug the fountain for the 15-minute run, or keep her out of the room. Empty and rinse before she goes back to it.
Will it damage my motor or seals?
No. It's formulated for submersible pumps and won't degrade gaskets.
My problem is hard-water scale, not slime.
The citric acid is in there for exactly that. It dissolves the mineral ring instead of you scrubbing it.
